Prepare a Drawing Package

Drawing-based transmission parts are coordinated alongside standard and branded items. Give each custom part an unambiguous drawing reference before machining feasibility and quotation review.

The drawing, manufacturing requirements and inspection basis form one controlled specification.

Identify the governing revision

Put drawing number, revision and part name on the BOM line. Identify superseded files and state which revision should be quoted. Avoid sending several similarly named files without this instruction.

Keep geometry and requirements together

Include dimensions, tolerances, material, finish and thread details in the controlled package. Where a model and a dimensioned drawing differ, clarify the governing requirements.

Mark critical acceptance features

Identify features that require particular inspection and specify the requested record. A marked critical dimension is more useful than a general request for high quality without an acceptance criterion.

Separate quantities and stages

State the quantity per part and whether the request concerns samples, a first batch or repeat supply. Feasibility, inspection scope and delivery are reviewed for the actual package.
